Roof inspection by drone: see everything without climbing up

You see every slope, flashing and chimney, with no scaffolding or cherry picker. Nobody sets foot on the roof, and every photo is dated.

Tracing a leak, checking tiles after a storm, pricing a repair: each survey starts with close observation. Seeing a roof up close usually means a lift or scaffolding. That equipment costs money, needs planning and sometimes occupies the pavement.

A drone carries out the same survey with nobody working at height. Slopes, verges, valleys, flashings, chimneys, gutters and solar panels: you receive sharp images, including where walking is unsafe. The same flight covers a façade inspection: cracks, joints, balconies and downpipes.

This roof photo survey is a visual record, not a diagnosis. Reading the images remains the work of your roofer or surveyor.

What a drone survey provides

  • 01

    No lift, no scaffolding

Nothing to hire, nothing to erect, no pavement permit to request. The visit is quick to arrange and access costs fall.

  • 02

    Nobody on the roof

No one climbs onto the covering. On slate, a steep pitch or a weakened roof, walking would add to the damage.

  • 03

    Access to difficult areas

Behind chimneys, junctions between roof sections, glass roofs, overhanging cornices, tall façades: the drone reaches where a ladder cannot. Every weak spot is framed close up.

  • 04

    Dated evidence for your insurer

Dated photos record the building's condition on a given day. They support an insurance claim, a dispute between co-owners or a pre-works condition report.

  • 05

    Activity continues during the flight

No ground footprint, no entrance closed off. Shops, offices and homes operate normally throughout the capture.

  • 06

    Reliable repair quotes

The roofer measures the extent of the damage before travelling. The quote matches reality, and the client understands what is proposed.

What this changes for youThe drone approaches each area with no access equipment to install. Every photo carries its date and records the roof's condition that day.

How a survey works

  1. 1

    Brief and objective

Send the address, the approximate building height and the objective: general condition, a leak, a post-storm check, a pre-works record. That brief sets the flight plan and the level of detail.

  2. 2

    Authorisation and site check

The flight zone is checked and Skeyes authorisation requested where needed. Where people or traffic are close by, the flight plan or time slot is adapted.

  3. 3

    Wide views, then close-ups

Every roof slope and relevant façade is covered in wide views, then in close-ups of the weak spots. Images overlap so that nothing is missed.

  4. 4

    Photo handover on site

Each image is cropped, then filed by area of the building. You, your roofer or your surveyor can see at once what each photo shows.

What this changes for youThe brief tells the remote pilot what to frame before take-off. Wide views then place every close-up.

Deliverables and turnaround

You receive high-resolution photos sorted by area: slopes, verges, valleys, flashings, chimneys, cornices and façades. Where a point needs context, a 4K video sequence is added.

Photos are handed over on site. An edited video takes 3 to 5 working days. One revision and commercial usage rights are included, so your roofer can attach the images to a quote.

This survey remains a visual record, not a diagnosis. Roof condition, the source of a leak and the repairs required are for the roofer or surveyor to determine. Pricing depends on the building, its height and the detail required. The quote is free, with no commitment, within 24 hours.

Coverage area: Brussels, Belgium and further on request

We work across all 19 Brussels municipalities, Walloon and Flemish Brabant, Wallonia and Flanders. The rest of Europe is covered on request. Beyond 50 km from Brussels, travel costs are stated in the quote. Brussels is almost entirely controlled airspace, so Skeyes authorisation is handled for you. For a building near a runway or heliport, approval takes longer, so contact us early. Flights are carried out by a DGTA-certified remote pilot (EASA framework) with €1.6M professional liability cover. That cover is essential when flying over property that is not your own.

FAQ

Questions owners ask

Does a drone replace a roofer's inspection?

No, the drone supplies the images, not the diagnosis. Analysis and pricing remain the roofer's or surveyor's work, and the quote is prepared from this survey.

Can a roof be inspected in the rain?

No, rain, strong wind and poor light degrade the images and make flying unsafe. If weather conditions are unfit to fly, rescheduling is free and the survey is rebooked as soon as possible.

Should I inform the building occupants?

It is advisable in a shared building or office block, as a simple courtesy. Framing stays on the building, away from windows, and the images serve the survey only.

Will my insurer accept roof photos taken by drone?

Dated photos are commonly used as evidence in a claim file. The insurer may still send an assessor: the images then document the case rather than replace the visit.
